Despite travelling phenomenal distances, indulging in lots of meals out, relaxing on beautiful beaches drinking perhaps a little too much beer (it's the only thing that really quenches your thirst anyway!) and staying in some wonderful hostels, we were £75 under budget - that's two and half free days later down the line!
Mexico has many wonderful cheap things for travellers: music around every corner, delicious street food and wonderful beaches. One thing it does not have however, is cheap long-distance transport.
An entire month in Latin America climbing volcanoes and living on the most perfect beach for less than one young professions pays for rent a room in central London. And people wonder why we left!
