hostel review: bella vista hostel, bogota

20,000 pesos per person, 10 bed mixed dorm with en-suite, 16th March 2015.

As soon as you arrive here, there is a clear friendly and helpful vibe from the staff and the lay-out of the hostel enables you to feel right at home. It's a pretty lived-in space, but perfectly fine.

Situated slap-bang in the middle of Candeleria, you're close to all the attractions of this student district. A taxi from the bus station cost will cost between 15,000 and 20,000 pesos.

best thing

The staff are genuinely lovely and the free breakfast (a simple omelette with some toast and coffee) is a nice extra. There's also a lovely dog in residence!

worst thing

There's no outdoor space but, given that the weather in Bogota is usually awful, this isn't dreadful. If you're a smoker, then it's to the street for you!

The equipment in the kitchen could do with a little bit of an upgrade.

value for money

As we found when looking for alternative accommodation in Bogota, it is not a terribly cheap city. Therefore, 20,000 per night is not dreadful. The dorm room was pleasantly decorated with very comfortable beds and a nice en-suite.

recommended for

Those wanting to stay in the area, but looking for a quieter environment will feel at home here.

Wifi, kitchen, free breakfast, 24 hour reception and security, pets, separate lounge and reading areas, computers, tourist information, English spoken, lockers.
